Abstract

The most widely used therapies for cancer sufferers are chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment can cause physical and psychological problems such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, etc., this has an impact on the cycle of delay or cancellation of subsequent treatment. The problem is caused by limited knowledge about the treatment effects of medication on patients' families and communities, especially health cadres. Based on Grunberg's research (2004), that about 60% of patients who get chemotherapy experience nausea and 30% experience vomiting despite using the latest antiemetic regimen. The aim and target of community service activities is to increase cadre knowledge about how to overcome the effects of cancer treatment with therapeutic complementary. The target of community service is health cadres in the Ponkesdes Working Area of ​​Sumber Porong Village. The implementation of the first stage conveyed material about the concept of cancer treatment, side effects, how to overcome and the concepts of aromatherapy and acupressure, and delivered aromatherapy techniques, accuracy while the next stage of evaluation, implementation plans. The results of the evaluation after the empowerment of health cadres in community service activities have increased knowledge and ability about complementary therapies such as aromatherapy and acupressure to treat nausea and vomiting. Aromatherapy and acupressure techniques are one way to overcome the nausea, vomiting effects of cancer treatment or the other without side effects, cheap, safe if done correctly
